ankommen zu hause

mein haus!

thought i could add a little bit about my apartment (mein appartement oder meine wohnung) which, currently, is in a state of utter disorder. i'm glad, on one hand, that i'm living alone because anyone who saw this would think i'm a total slob. on the other hand, i'm usually not a slob if i know people will be observing my slobbishness (slobbery?). in any case, these pictures are from the first day i arrived. it was a mess then, but the i-just-got-here-give-me-a-break kind of mess. not the i-am-lazy-and-wasn't-expecting-visitors kind.

sorry, i had some trouble arranging these...

the rot/blau theme was not my choice, sondern that of one frau gesa baum-beyer (complaints and mourning to come). she picked pretty much everything actually, including the sleeper sofa (it doesn't fold out or anything. you just sleep on it.) and the very class desk that broke on the first day.it's ok, she meant well, i'm sure. she was nice enough to feed me and take me a nice little grocery right when i got in so i wouldn't starve (i had to finish up the baby spinach and blue cheese i'd brought with me--didn't want to risk it with customs).

mein badzimmer: sehr klein. küchen: merke das brot auf dem spülbecken. wohnzimmer/schlafzimmer/usw.: computer immer.

more recently i've added some nice pflanzen: basilikum, thymian, rosemarin, and some mint i found while biking/hiking (lots more of that). yes. they are in milk cartons. i'm living on a budget!! (the soil may or may not have been 'gently removed without permission' from the farm that comes right up next to our lab campus. it looked good and rich! also: me=poor.)
